What We Are Doing To Help
Conversion
How We Can Help:
- Ensure a smooth conversion from operating rooms to isolation rooms by expanding the Connexall network.
- AI Voice Assistant integrations.
Customer Innovations:
CHALLENGE: The staff at a leading New York hospital wanted to ensure a smooth conversion from operating rooms to COVID-19 isolation rooms. They wanted to find efficient ways to admit as many patients as possible.
ACTION: This hospital has converted their entire hospital from Surgery to General and are admitting patients with and without COVID-19 at this time. Connexall integrated to GE patient monitors to build out new units. Connexall is also integrating to additional patient monitors in ad hoc locations in order to increase bed capacity.
RESULT: This hospital will be able to quickly increase their capacity (as mandated by New York government) to allow for more COVID-19 patients to be treated.
Expansion
How We Can Help:
- Integrate with ventilators to send alarms to devices
- Create new callpoints for ventilator locations
- Expand Connexall hierarchy to add floors/units that were closed and not previously in use
Customer Innovations:
CHALLENGE: The staff at a leading healthcare network in Michigan needed to configure new ventilator alarms to appropriately notify staff as they expanded their COVID-19 care units to increase patient capacity.
ACTION: Connexall expanded the system to add floors and units that were closed and not previously in use. Connexall added ventilator alarms to existing units that previously did not have vents. Across this network of hospitals, Connexall helped to open 6 new COVID-19 units.
RESULT: Staff are now able to receive alarms and alerts from new areas that are opening to accommodate a surge of COVID-19 patients. This reduces the amount of times that staff must go in and out of isolation units, and maintains efficiency of alarm management throughout the entire facility.
CHALLENGE: The staff at this Washington medical center have opened 3 new units to increase patient capacity. They needed to integrate with nurse call and telemetry alarms to appropriately notify staff.
ACTION: Connexall rapidly integrated into these 3 new units and added new nurse call and telemetry alarms to the configuration.
RESULT: The hospital staff are now able to receive alarms and alerts from these new units. This reduces the amount of times that staff have to go in and out of isolation units and maintains efficiency of alarm management throughout the entire facility.
Communication
How We Can Help:
- Connexall Unit Whiteboard - provides visibility into COVID-19 units, including COVID-19 patient status, room availability and staff assignments.
- Add patient COVID-19 status to transport alarms
- Integrate to additional clinical mobile devices that were not previously in use, to allow more efficient staff communication

During the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, the team at CHULC quickly realized that they would need to improve timely awareness of, and response to, COVID-19 positive patients. Download the case study here to learn how Connexall helped.
CHALLENGE: The staff at this leading Canadian hospital wanted to add COVID-19 to their isolation list to ensure that their transport staff will be aware if the patient that they are transporting has COVID-19.
ACTION: Connexall added COVID-19 to a global message list. All the units use this message list. When a patient transport request is entered, the staff has the option to choose COVID-19, which will indicate a positive case.
RESULT: Transport staff are immediately notified when a patient has COVID-19. This means they are able to take the necessary precautions when transporting the patient.
CHALLENGE: The staff at this west-coast hospital required vent alarms in their 3rd Floor ICU to be sent through Rauland to staff iPhones. Due to California’s potential upcoming outbreak, the site wanted to take precautions as they were expecting a COVID-19 surge in the coming weeks.
ACTION: Connexall integrated into the hospital’s existing technology to be able to send ventilator alarms to staff, so that they can respond quickly. These vent alarms will exist in 36 ICU rooms.
RESULT: The staff will be able to receive vent alarms from COVID-19 ICUs through their devices to be able to respond quickly and appropriately.
