    Job Description

    The Director of Finance supports the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) by managing day-to-day accounting and finance operations across all regions. This role ensures accurate reporting, compliance, and financial discipline, while providing leadership to regional accountants, operations staff and administrators. The Director of Finance will serve as the bridge between finance operations and corporate finance strategy.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Manage all accounting transactions and ensure accuracy in financial reporting.

    • Oversee month-end closing across all regions (Canada, USA, Europe).

    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely month-end closing.

    • Standardize month-end close checklists and reporting templates.

    • Provide financial analysis and support in the preparation of monthly financial
      statements.

    • Ensure timely and accurate consolidated financial statements.

    • Review reconciliations, journal entries, and adjustments prepared by accountants.

    • Ensure accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and invoicing processes
      are accurate and efficient.

    • Produce accounting reports, conduct audits, and ensure accuracy.

    • Register for unemployment and state taxes in various states and provinces for
      new employees.

    • Manage relationships with external auditors and coordinate the annual audit
      process.

    • Ensure adherence to US, CAN and Europe tax laws, accounting standards, and
      regulatory requirements.

    • Maintain accurate records for statutory filing in each region.

    • Manage relationship and coordinate with accounting firms in Canada, US, and
      Europe for year-end filings

    • Partner with CFO to prepare budgets, forecasts, and cash flow reports.

    • Identify financial risks and opportunities to support business growth.

    • Provide financial insights to management for decision-making.

    • Drive automation and efficiency improvements in accounting processes.

    • Ensure invoicing, collections, and reporting are aligned with company policies.

    • Present financial status and analysis to the CFO, senior leadership team and
      Board of Directors

    • Oversee payroll processing for employees in Canada, US, and Europe ensuring
      compliance with local regulations and company policies.

    • Manage payroll systems and ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll for
      all employees.

    • Responsible for transition and operations of accounting systems in each region.

    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and provincial payroll regulations,
      including tax withholding, deductions, and benefits administration.

    • Address and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries related to pay
      and benefits.

    • Coordinate with external payroll service providers and internal HR teams to
      ensure smooth payroll operations.

    • Review and approve payroll reports and audits to ensure accuracy and
      compliance.

    • Implement and enforce payroll policies and procedures to ensure consistency
      and compliance.

    • Oversee human resource duties for direct reports, including but not limited to
      recruiting, compensation, mentoring, performance management, employee
      development and training, to ensure high performance and professional growth.

    • Foster a collaborative and productive work environment.

    • Other duties as required.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; MBA or other
      advanced degree preferred.

    • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), Chartered Management Accountant
      (CMA) or equivalent professional certification is required.

    • Minimum of 10 years of experience in financial management, with at least 3 years
      in a senior financial leadership role.

    • Proven track record of success in financial planning and analysis, budgeting, and
      financial reporting.

    • Strong understanding of financial regulations, compliance, and risk management
      both in Canada and the USA.

    • Able to think strategically and act as a business partner to the CFO and senior
      management team

    • The ability to combine accounting expertise and business acumen with
      professional management and coaching skills.

    • The ability to maintain lasting relationships with all departments and key business
      partners.

    • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office is required.

    • Proficient in financial software and reporting tools.

    • Excellent leadership, communication (oral and presentation), and interpersonal
      skills.

    • Strong analytical, problem-solving and negotiation skills.

    • Act in a strong, professional manner always maintaining the highest of ethical
      standards with company employees, customers and suppliers.
